A Day for Lazarus

Good morning Blog,

Okay, so after ages of planning and finally finding the perfect time to go to Lazarus with my friends, D trying to find the right date with his busy schedule and mine, fortunately, we actually made it happen!

Blessed weather too! As you can remember, it was rainy lately, but it seemed like Heaven was preparing these clouds for noon.
I always want to visit a beautiful beach and become a beach boy (well-tanned, healthy, active, and always cheerful). Too bad, I am a seal and can only do so when I am there to daydream.

As usual, morning public transportation will always be packed, but today was not that bad.
It is less packed, especially in the location where there are no buildings or anything above it.
Quieter to Marina South Pier.
Sigh... So sad... My spoilt camera has really limited me... I cannot see how it will look before and after... All rely on my best move and guess.
I just need some time.
Typical day at Marina South Pier
It seems like they changed the schedule again, so please snap a picture or keep a copy if you need to reference it.
I saw a group of visitors, but it seemed like they were going to Kusu Island.
Phew... thank goodness.
The ferry is filling up—I can imagine this happening over the weekend.
It's a cloudy day, and it might rain later. Hopefully, it won't start too soon.
Finally, D and I managed to make this happen. He had always wanted to visit the island, but our schedules never aligned.
Hope D will enjoy the tranquillity of the island.
It seemed like they don't stop at St John Island anymore.
They stopped at Pulau Seringat jetty.
Ah, it was closed! So St John will be quieter.
A group of fit youngsters are marching toward a camping zone while a seal-me makes its way to disrupt the scene of a beautiful beach.
My favourite local spot is the one where I can enjoy access to a beautiful beach.
(Credit D) Cheer!
It looked like a young couple with their dog was sharing the beach with us.
The beach is quite dirty, which I think is a common sight, especially when there are ships in the sea.
Hmm... Kusu Island felt lively and vibrant, with plenty of activity bringing the island to life.
Great, so I won't be an eyesore to more people.
It seemed like D just wanted to chill under the shelter.
Better this way.
I will just interact with other things.
Take my time for photos....
As the clear, tranquil water gently waved towards me!
And also, no jellyfish too!
It felt like a high tide moment swept my shoes away while I was in the water, but it was still a lot of fun.
Oh no... I forgot to bring a towel for washing up, and I didn’t pack any extra clothes either... sigh...
(Credit D) Since I needed to bring D to St John Island, I decided to dry myself off in the trunk while walking there. I guessed...
(Credit D) I just ended up making D uncomfortable. I should have used my own camera instead...
Can sense St John Island was so quiet from a distance.
Check out the beautiful blue sky.
But looking at another side... the clouds were very heavy.
Oh no! The cargo shophouses on St John Island are gone. Judging by the grass growth condition, they seem to have been removed a little over two months ago.
A scene featuring both the old jetty and the recently closed jetty.
Here is the old jetty.
and a jetty that brought back so many cherished memories from my numerous visits to Lazarus.
xxxxx
I thought of showing D the quieter beach I used to visit after Lazarus. Typically, Lazarus Beach gets more visitors as time goes on, while St John Island Beach remains quieter, making it a nice spot to hang out. However, the shelter there seems quite dirty. Quite disappointed...
but... the worst started to come...
My clothing was soaked... I should have just stayed in my trunk! Hahaha... But I don't want to feel embarrassed around others with my lousy body.
D wanted to head back as soon as possible, so we had no choice but to hurry through the heavy rain.
Even though it was exhausting to run an uncovered distance under heavy and stormy rain, and it felt like an emotionally spoilt day, I was counting my blessings. For one, I didn’t bring my tent along, so there was less to carry. I can only imagine how much harder it would have been to run in the rain while lugging heavy gear...
Time to board the ferry, and we tried to sit under the air conditioning in a spot where it couldn't reach us, as we were completely soaked due to the lack of shelter at the jetty.
By the time the ferry reached Singapore, I was already dried up.
Thanks, D, for showing up for the island visit. I hope it wasn’t boring with the rain and not much else to do, or annoying when I asked you to take pictures of the seal. Visiting the beach today felt healing for me somehow, and I hope I can return again soon.

Jeff
